PORTSMOUTH — Kennebunk Savings is excited to sponsor 2022’s TEDxPortsmouth event, “Hidden in Plain Sight.” The immersive, full-day, sold-out event features inspirational speakers, musical performances, local food, networking and, most importantly, big ideas.

Twelve members of the bank’s leadership development programs will be attending the event. “TEDxPortsmouth represents forward-thinking leadership, and just looking at the slate of speakers this year, reflects that clearly,” observed Bradford C. Paige, President and CEO of Kennebunk Savings. “These are innovators, trailblazers, communicators and survivors. Hearing anything they have to say is worthwhile.”

2022’s speakers include geography champion (and high school senior!) Sean Cheng, Black Lives Matter Seacoast vice president Dr. Stephanie Bramlett, and Portsmouth Music and Arts Center co-founder Russ Grazier, Jr., who may or may not bring a saxophone.

“We are so grateful to our sponsors, who have helped us take TEDxPortsmouth from a small gathering in a church basement to one of the largest, most respected TEDx events in the world,” said Kaarin Milne, TEDxPortsmouth’s Co-Producer.

Each year, Kennebunk Savings gives at least 10% of its annual earnings to local nonprofits. The bank is actively involved in work to prevent food insecurity, strengthen early childhood development, and advocate for substance use disorder recovery efforts. The bank’s Social Responsibility Manager, Liz Torrance, said “We focus on initiatives that bring social responsibility to life, and that’s one of the reasons we’re proud to support TEDxPortsmouth. It amplifies public awareness, it sparks conversation, and it convenes community.”

Biotech Supply Chain Management Course offered live online and in person June 24.

PORTSMOUTH – The greater Boston area has consistently been the top location for biotechnology, revolutionizing vaccines and therapies for patients around the world. The pandemic has shown the need for rapid vaccine development and execution of the supply chain throughout the Clinical Phases – and as a result, the need for supply chain professionals is drastically outpacing the current supply

UNH Professional Development and Training (PD&T) is meeting this demand with a new course offering: Biotech Supply Chain Management, offered live online and in person at our Portsmouth location on June 24. This program is designed for professionals looking to develop the transferable hard skills of clinical supply chain, while learning how to apply soft skills that are important regardless of a specific sector.

The foundational knowledge of supply chain gained in this program can benefit anyone, regardless of their role in the workplace.”

Throughout this one-day program, Horton will discuss topics such as Clinical Supply Chain Fundamentals, Clinical Forecasting and Scenario Planning, Biologic Resilient Delivery and Controlled Temp Network, and Clinical Supply Chain S&OP and Decision Making.

Paul Michael receives the Changemaker Award from Michelle Veasey, NHBSR executive director, at Wednesday’s “Uniting on Purpose” spring conference.

More than 200 members of the sustainable business community attended New Hampshire Businesses for Social Responsibility’s (NHBSR) spring conference – Uniting on Purpose – on May 4, for over a dozen vibrant, interactive, educational and inspiring workshops.

In between the morning’s Mindfulness session and the afternoon’s Community Conversations and Corporate Citizenship Plenary Panel, NHBSR presented several awards.

The Changemaker Award was presented to Paul Michael, a Granite State College student and supervisor at Lindt Chocolate. While working as a Jamaican person in New Hampshire, he has experienced significant exclusion and inequities, which prompted him to start a diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) committee at Lindt Chocolate Factory. Paul also works as a volunteer firefighter to aid others in emergency situations. He works tirelessly to promote a diverse and equitable future for all.

“Get to know someone who doesn’t look like you,” Paul advised. Just by taking that simple step, you can learn, grow and strengthened connections with others in your community.
