Melinda West named affiliate vice president for finance and college controller | VTx

Melinda West has been named affiliate vice president for finance and college controller next a nationwide research.

West, who served in the position on an interim foundation given that Could 2020, will guide the university’s money and accounting operations, which include things like the basic accounting, financial reporting, fastened assets and tools stock expert services, cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bursar, and threat administration models.

She will also oversee the growth of monetary insurance policies and treatments, fostering of powerful university partnerships and collaboration, enhancements to university enterprise procedures, and other strategic initiatives inside of the Division of Finance.

West brings 25 decades of Virginia Tech services and partnership to the situation. From 2010-2020, West served as university bursar, a purpose in which she prioritized collaboration with the Workplace of College Scholarships and Money Support, Housing and Residence Existence, and other college entities to far better serve students and family members. West oversaw the procedure of billing, collections, and accounting features for College student Accounts and other university receivables and related revenues. Her workplace was also accountable for running the hard cash receipts technique, college banking interactions, and overseeing Virginia Tech’s compliance with applicable federal and point out laws.

West is a licensed general public accountant and previously served as an auditor with the Commonwealth of Virginia Auditor of General public Accounts. West obtained a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Radford University and a Grasp of Business Administration diploma from Averett University.

She and her spouse David reside on a compact beef cattle farm in Floyd County and are happy mother and father of a 2020 Virginia Tech graduate.
