Telegram joins program from Brazil’s Electoral Court to fight fake news

March 25 (Reuters) – Messaging app Telegram on Friday signed an agreement to be a part of a system developed by Brazil’s Electoral Courtroom to fight misinformation ahead of the country’s presidential election in October, the courtroom mentioned on its site.

Telegram was the only remaining big messaging and social community application that had not still shut a partnership with the courtroom.

“The purpose of the partnership is to fight bogus material similar to the Electoral Justice, the electronic voting procedure, the electoral approach in its distinct phases and the actors associated in it,” stated the court’s take note.

On Thursday, Telegram’s neighborhood representative Alan Campos Elias Thomaz mentioned he would supply the proposal to the company’s executives, incorporating that the app is fully commited to preventing “pretend information.”

The app was suspended by Brazil’s Supreme Courtroom last 7 days for non-compliance, but the measure was revoked on Sunday.
